Becoming The Spice Alchemist

Hello! My name is Laura "aka Cardamoma" and I am the owner/crafter of The Spice Alchemist and one of the founders of Women Entrepreneurs of Alberta. I create my very own small-batch spice seasonings, spice blends, sea salt infusions and spiced sugars.

A little about why I started The Spice Alchemist...I've had a fascination with spices while my children were growing up and my spice drawer always doubled as our family "medicine cabinet". My Father-in-law was a Horticulturist/Linguist who witnessed many deforestation practices in India and was instrumental in helping to restore natural ecosystems and increase the local farmers' profitability by teaching them how to grow spices. This inspired me to extensively educate myself on the many issues involved in the spice industry, as well as the opportunities that were available with more ethical and sustainable practices. With this, along with family health and diet restrictions, I knew I needed to find other alternatives to spice sources.

When not able to grow my own, I offer good quality, ethically and sustainably sourced spices grown by farmers who have become like family and are also working to bring about good in their communities.
